Down to Earth Fertilizers & Amendments

Premium quality, natural and organic fertilizerslogo-small

Down To Earth™ began in Eugene, Oregon, in 1977 in response to the growing segment of American consumers who were looking for alternatives to plastic and synthetic materials. On the forefront of the burgeoning organic movement of the 1980s, we began making fertilizers out of our storefront shop to provide our customers a natural, economical option for their gardens.

Today, we work out of our own manufacturing plant and have developed partnerships with processors and suppliers to procure the highest quality raw materials for our premium fertilizer products, which are used by home gardeners, commercial growers, nurseries and garden centers who want environmentally friendly alternatives to conventional chemical products.

We feature a complete line of natural and organic fertilizers, soil amendments, composts and potting media that work with the microorganisms, fungi and organic matter in the soil to feed plants and stimulate growth. Our natural fertilizers are carefully blended from the best sources of organic nutrients in ideal proportions without the use of synthetics, growth stimulants or low-quality fillers like poultry waste. You can be confident that you are giving your farm or garden the best product available, whether it’s a multi-purpose blend or a specialized soil amendment.

We take pride in offering only the highest quality ingredients that help provide an effective and environmentally friendly approach to plant care, crop fertilization and soil management.

Fertilizers targeted for specific solutions

DTE™ Single Ingredient Fertilizers are used for specific needs in certain stages of a plant’s development. Many DTE™ fertilizers are approved for use in organic crop production. Please note the “OMRI” and “OIM” logos throughout the website. Langbeinite 0-0-22pg16_000569

Supplies three vital plant nutrients

Down To Earth™ Langbeinite 0-0-22 is a naturally mined crystalline mineral that supplies the water-soluble sulfate form of three vital plant nutrients: potassium, magnesium and sulfurs. It’s maximum chlorine content is less than 3.0 percent, minimizing the potential for fertilizer “burn,” and it’s neutral pH does not alter soil activity.

Potassium contributes strongly to overall plant health by regulating internal processes. Since potassium makes up part of the fluid of the plant, it is found throughout plant tissue, meaning plants need a strong source of potassium as they grow. Potassium deficiencies lead to weak stalks and immature roots, leaving the plant susceptible to insets.

DTE™ Langbeinite 0-0-22 is widely used on sensitive vegetables and fruit crops that require high fertilization rates but do not tolerate high levels of chlorine or soluble salts. This standard grade langbeinite has a typical SGN of 95 and is an excellent source of readily available sulfur, potassium and magnesium.

  1. Hello,
I am now been using date for a few months and like it. have been using in small quantities but would like to know if I amend my soils can I just add a hand full of this and that and as long as it is in the soil the plant will use what it needs? what i mean is can i use all the kinds of high nite ferts at same time? like bat guano and fix powder but high in nite. I like to just throw a bunch of stuff in the soil and go sometimes seems like I get it right, just wondering if I can overdose my plants with to much amendments? also should I foliar feed at the same time I soil feed?

    • Unfortunately, not all amendments break down at the same rate. For example, amendments like bat or seabird guano are considerably more available then crab or shrimp meal. So as with any garden, a balance is always preferred. Overdosing your plants can definitely happen, but most people should be letting their amended soils “cook” or compost, for a lack of a better term. Once this four(4) to six(6) week “cooking” process is complete, most of the amendments should be broken down enough to provide enough food to only need water for the plants and carbohydrates for the microbes. In some cases, growers will find a blend, or mix, that allows them to only use water and carbs throughout the entire vegetative and flowering cycles. These blends of amended soils are typically called “supersoil.” You can read more about them here.

      Thank you for your question.
